Getting over Body Flaws and Marks

Becoming aware of flaws is on account of at least two reasons.

  1. Non acceptance
  2. They disturb the mind

One can deal with them in a manner described here.

  • Non Acceptance: There was an Indian Rishi by name Ashtavakra. He is credited with authorship of Ashtavakra Gita. His body had unnatural bends in eight places. He was the guru of king Janaka. Janaka himself was a pious, saintly king. Someone asked the king this : “How do you accept this Rishi as your guru. His body is so contorted.” The king replied : “Do you need a beautifully built temple to worship God. Or do you go to a dark unkept cave to worship a living God.” You can get over non acceptance by saying something on these lines. This mark / patch / scar / deformity little matters and little affects my beauty as a person. People get what they look at. I have so many other laudable attributes to be proud of. I therefore accept this mark / patch / scar / deformity for what it is lovingly as being mine. You surely know this world famous theoretical physicist - Stephen Hawking
  • Overcoming disturbance in the mind. Address the mind thus: “Hey my mind. I give you permission to let go of your adverse view regarding this mark / patch / scar / deformity. Return to your peaceful and undisturbed state. I will do everything required in the matter.
  • Be proud of what you possess and overlook what mars your looks, intelligence, memory, skill, talent, capacity or whatever other.
