The things that get me connected to others

The things that help me feel connected to people in my life are:

  1. Noticing them
  2. Recognising them
  3. Smiling at them
  4. Saying a hello
  5. Following with a short conversation such as “Hi. All OK.”
  6. Offering help or assistance.
  7. Thinking about them.
  8. Recalling good times with them.
  9. Helping them out in chores.
  10. Offering help if I am going out.
  11. Saying nice things to them in praise.
  12. Being there for them always.

A comment I received on Quora to my answer.

Wow, thank you so much for your response.

The exact wording of the assignment: Write a letter to all the people in your life that have not left you and what helps you feel connected to them.

Nail on head for the reasoning behind it - The fear of abandonment and rejection consistently keeps me isolated from others. You must be in the field ЁЯШЙ

I now understand what this letter should consist of, thank you! I really appreciate the list and am definitely able to get a start on this. Again, thank you!

One more comment from our daughter:

Its amazing dad. The things have you said are so simple. You’ve listed them brilliantly. Can’t believe something so simple can add so much value to someone else. Wow
