Skills we wish to develop need to match our profession or practice. The skills for an accounting, finance related profession will be different from that for an insurance profession and still different from that of a workshop manager and still different from an architect, advocate, doctor or any other.
List seven skills for an insurance professional as an example.
- Problem-Solving. ...
- Customer Service. ...
- Numeracy. ...
- Organization. ...
- Detail-Oriented. ...
- Communication. ...
- Negotiation. . .
Now list them from easy to difficult for you. I have listed for me
- Numeracy
- Detail Orientation
- Organisation
- Communication
- Negotiation
- Customer Service
- Problem Solving
Now I find the last three will require formal training and I can do the first four on my own.
I give myself six months to train myself. I will learn the first four in skills training at certificate level first and the last three at diploma level. I will then proceed with the first four at diploma level.
Therefore I will have equal competency in all the skills.
I will round up with apprenticeship training for three to six months as I am crossing my formal skills training.
Therefore I will have mastered qualified training.
