Popularly human behaviour is classified in four ways optimistic, pessimistic, trusting and envious. That much said I would tow line with my understanding on the basis of transactional analysis (TA) theory.
TA recognises three types of behaviour patterns - parent like, grown up adult like and child like. These are manifestations of three primary personality structural components named Parent, Adult and Child' respectively. Now Parent can show up as controlling or nurturing. In either case they can be growth and life supporting or growth and life denying. The first two are then named as positive and the latter two negative. The Adult shows up as data collecting, assessing and acuumslating Adult. The Child manifests as Adapted and Free Child. The Adapted Child in turn shows up as Rebellious and Compliant. There is a third type of Child called The natural Child. The Adapted and Free Child can in turn show up as productive or destructive. So in all there are fourteen types of Human behaviour.
- Parent type - 4
- Adult type - 3
- Child type - 7
These can be distinguished on the basis of Verbal - Words, Sentence Structure, Tone, Volume, Stress, and Flow; and Non Verbal Facial Expressions and Gestures, Head Nods and Movements, Gestures with Hands, Pose and Posture - each signalling a distinct message individually and collectively too.
