How to control an urge, impulse, drive, desire or need.

Question. How to delay or get rid of gratification of any urge, drive, impulse, desire or need.

This method is designed by me. You can use it freely. I am giving this example with urge as something to manage. Say this addressing your mind:

Hey my mind. I find that you are experiencing a strong urge to . . . . . . . . . . (Say whatever your be). I give you permission to let go of this urge. Please let go and return to restfulness. I will do the needful in this matter.

Now engage in any other activity. The desire for instant gratification will have gone away.

Note:
The same method can be used for managing or getting rid of troubling or undesirable thoughts, feelings and emotions.
