Self Control / How to Exercise Self Control

Learning to control ourself is not as difficult as it looks.

To begin with recite these commitments every morning for a week. You will start gaining awareness and control by then. If it takes time be patient and keep repeating till it comes to you.

  1. I am a capable person.
  2. I gain awareness of things I do requiring control.
  3. I gain control when I address my mind to that effect.
  4. I am a person capable and empowered to of control myself.

Then when you become aware address your mind thus:

Hey my mind. I need your help and assistance. Please exercise control over this (mention the item requiring control). It could be

  1. A thought
  2. A feeling
  3. An emotional hype
  4. A behaviour
  5. An urge
  6. An impulse
  7. A drive
  8. A desire
  9. A need
  10. An yearning
  11. A bad dream
  12. A deep want

Then thank your mind for helping you.

Remember - pride and grandiosity are killers.
